What We Do. LEADERSHIP
Enriching Education Through Leadership
The West Shore Foundation (WSF) supports leadership initiatives because they promote active citizenship, individual responsibility, strong character, life skills, and resiliency. Students and staff who are engaged in leadership activities are more likely to succeed, and students and staff who succeed are more likely to go on to do great things in our classrooms and in our community.

To promote leadership in the West Shore School District, WSF offers Leadership Incentive Grants. These grants are reserved for leadership initiatives that assist teachers, schools, or the district in aligning with the district’s strategic plan and with WSF’s goals. Grant recipients may be teachers, teaching teams, administrators, school staff, or parent organizations, and individual grants are awarded up to the amount of $1,000.
Leadership programs and activities supported by WSF include:
- Leadership Incentive Grants
- Scholarships
- Harry L. Messick Community Service Award
- Harry L. Messick Youth Service Award
- Distribution of Community Aid Gift Cards
