Enriching Education Through Technology

The West Shore Foundation (WSF) supports technology because technology opens up the world for learning. It affects how we socialize, connect, play, and, most importantly, learn. Integrating technology into classroom instruction means more than teaching basic computer skills and software programs in a computer class. Effective technology integration happens across the curriculum and in ways that enhance and deepen the learning process.

WSF helps meet the technology needs of 21st century classrooms in the West Shore School District by offering Educator Innovation Grants. When awarding these grants, WSF looks for four key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, interaction and feedback, and connection to real-world experts and experiences. One way we have successfully applied our grant monies is by purchasing class sets of Google Chromebooks, which provide a platform for integrating a variety of apps for education. Using these devices, students can customize their learning experiences and gain technological literacy skills that promote an anytime, anywhere attitude toward learning.

Technology programs and activities supported by WSF include:

  • Educator Innovation Grants
  • Chromebooks for Classrooms
  • STEM Kits
  • Makerspace Materials

Giving to the West Shore Foundation may include individual cash donations, corporate matching funds, endowments, and pledges. Each gift is welcomed and deeply appreciated.
