Mission and History
With community support, we pledge to provide students with opportunities that will give them the competitive edge necessary for college and career success.
The West Shore Foundation was formed in 1987 for the purpose of supporting educational programs and creating opportunities for the development of the students, staff, and community of the West Shore School District (WSSD). The Foundation is registered as a 501(c)(3), K-12 public education foundation for charitable purposes. The Foundation recognizes that the WSSD is continually challenged by ever-increasing costs and diminishing funds for education.
Our mission is to support enriched educational experiences for our nearly 8,000 students through the contributions of concerned community members. With community support, we pledge to provide students with opportunities that will give them the competitive edge necessary for college and career success.
Through our focus on our Five Pillars of Educational Excellence (Academics, Arts & Culture, Athletics, Innovation, and Community Wellness), the Foundation provides funding and support for innovative educational programs that do not fall within the district’s traditional budget or curriculum. Grants, scholarships, and programs are funded through charitable donations, special events, and fundraising activities. Click here to learn how you can support the Foundation.
