A Tail of Percy-verance

Red Mill 2nd Graders Wrote Their Own Book!

What a great tale (or tail?) for Read Across America Week! Ms. Tofani, 2nd grade teacher at Red Mill Elementary School, recently was awarded an Educator Innovation Grant to have her students' book published. Each student contributed to the writing and illustrations in this book, and each student was able to bring home their own copy of "A Tail of Percy-verance", a story about their Facility Dog, Percy, and his journey of learning how to read. Seeing their story come to life inspired so many of her students to continue writing. Many of them wanted to write sequels to the story and create more adventures for Percy. The creation of this book has become the motivation that Ms. Tofani was looking for when it comes to writing. She is so thrilled to see the positive impact these books are having on her students, and we are too! Congratulations to Ms. Tofani and her students (and Percy) for this outstanding accomplishment.
