Harry L. Messick Youth Service Award Recipient Announced!

Congratulations to Red Land High School Class of 2021's Talyn Custer!

We are honored to present Talyn Custer (Red Land High School Class of 2021) with the Harry L. Messick Youth Service Award in recognition of her stellar commitment to community service. Her recognition is a result of her involvement in many organizations. Talyn served on the Leadership Team of Cumberland County’s Youth Advisory Board. This organization advocates for the prevention of drugs, alcohol, and gambling. With guidance from the Youth Advisory Board, the Cumberland County Drug and Alcohol Commission can develop relevant prevention programming tools for students and the community.

In addition to her involvement with the Youth Advisory Board, Talyn’s community service includes volunteering at the Salvation Army to assemble and deliver Christmas boxes for families in need. She also volunteered with Project Share to make food for the homeless. Her commitment to her community is to be commended as is her involvement at Red Land High School. Talyn served as Captain of the Field Hockey team and as Student Council Vice President in addition to being an active member of the Friendship Club and the Mini-THON Committee.

On behalf of all those she has helped and worked with throughout the last several years, we appreciate all that Talyn has done for her community. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
